Activin B

Alternative Names: Inhibin, Inhibin beta B (activin AB beta polypeptide), Activin beta-B chain, beta-2, MGC157939.

Inhibins are peptide hormones produced by ovarian granulose cells and Sertoli cells, as well as other tissues. There are two isoforms of inhibin, A and B, with different subunits. Inhibin A is made up of alpha and beta A subunits, while inhibin B is composed of alpha and beta B subunits. Inhibins are believed to inhibit the production of FSH by the pituitary gland and may also influence gametogenesis and early development.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Activin-B is a member of the TGF-beta superfamily of proteins, known for their roles in cell growth, differentiation, and development. With a molecular weight of approximately 25 kDa, Activin-B functions as a dimer composed of two beta B subunits. This protein plays a key role in various biological processes, including embryogenesis, tissue repair, and immune response regulation. Recombinant Human Activin-B is commonly used in research settings to study its effects on cellular signaling pathways and gene expression.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized Activin B although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution Activin B should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Activin B in sterile 18M-cm H₂O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
